Philexport 4C Cavite Chapter, Inc. in partnership with the Provincial Cooperative, Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCLEDO) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Cavite held the 1st PHILEXPORT Cavite Business forum 2016 with the theme ‘’Empowering SMEs for Today’s Challenges” on August 9, 2016 at the Locators Hall, FCIE Administration Bldg, Langkaan 1, Dasmarinas City in line with the celebration of SME month.

  The business forum aims to strengthen the growth of small and medium enterprise sector in the province to give them an assurance of a fighting chance in these difficult times. It enabled an exchange of information, experience and best practices of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), government sector and private enterprise development institutions. It also served as an avenue to raise the issues and concern of MSMEs to be taken by the government sector and private institutions for a strong public-private partnership in sustaining MSME Development.
  Mr. Victor S. Marasigan, President of Philexport Cavite gave the overview of the business forum. He said that their organization in committed to work for the continuing development of the export industry particularly in the province. It shall lead in partnership with business and government institutions for a dynamic and self-sustaining economy. Philexport Cavite also gives assistance through trade facilitation and documentation, business matching and referrals, specialized training courses, workshop and basic promotion services.
The keynote speaker, Undersecretary Zenaida Cuison-Maglaya of the DTI Regional Operations Group (ROG) shared her thoughts on how the government can properly lead micro and small entrepreneurs. According to Ms. Maglaya large entrepreneurs can always take care of themselves and manage product export very well with all the resources to hire people to do the job. On the other hand, SMEs have to manage the business and face the problems at the same time with limited resources and capabilities.
Undersecretary Maglaya said that the DTI under the present administration of Secretary Ramon Lopez formulated a plan of action focusing on investment and trade and consumer protection to help the micro and small enterprises to be part of the growing economy. She added that as much as possible, the government wants to simplify the process of doing business to avoid waste of time. Likewise, she advised the MSMEs to attend more trade fairs, bazaars, forums and training program to improve on product design and be updated on issues and ideas on how to grow big in business.
  On behalf of Gov. Jesus Crispin ‘’Boying’’ Remulla, Provincial Administrator Enrico Alvarez extended his greetings and full support to the 1st PhilExport Cavite Business Forum and enumerated the Provincial Government’s major thrust, such as traffic management plan, water quality management plan, revenue generation plan, human resource enhancement program, solid waste and environment management program, and infrastructure program which, in a way, affects the business environment in the province.
